Coming from a family whose roots are planted in the South Side Chicago, pride in being Irish was always prominent in our home. Family events were always full of laughs, full of love and of course all the alcoholism that comes along with it. But It wasn’t until I was older that I began to understand why this was so note worthy. Knowing what and where your family comes from is a gift that took a long time to formulate.

It took hundreds of years, it took forced migration, slavery, starvation, oppression and discrimination. But it built a people of iron will, of people who understood how to roll up their sleeve and get busy. Who understood if you want something in this world, you better be ready to fight for it; and not always with your fists. But it also made a people who never forget to laugh, even when it seems the worlds against you. Who remember to have each others back when all you have is those around you. And generally, better at starting parties than knowing when to end them.

As much as putting on green and getting shit faced is a trademark of the Irish American on St Patricks, I wanted to make something that embodied the spirit and sense of humor I grew up with. To thank all my ancestors who went through all of the bullshit that life threw at them. It may not have much to do with motorcycles, but it has to do with remembering sometimes shit happens. It means some times only hard work will make you smile. It means remember where you come from, and don’t be a piece of shit.
